A Collaboration in dealing with nostalgia, superheroes, Saturday morning cartoons, wrestling, videogames and childhood ideals. I’ve turned conversations with family, friends, and colleagues into literal representations that have triggered memories of these things, using their childhood portraits comingled them with the hero they think best represents them. The conversation continues between the interactions of others in the space, that came in to play old video games, watch distorted Saturday morning cartoons and create new conversations throughout the length of the exhibition. When I asked viewers to participate in and exchange with my piece, What’s Your American Dream? I traded a small plaster sculpture for a dream that the participant placed in an old wrestling lunch box for me to later view, which became the food for the thoughts of my next body of work.
